Red
Line Oil and Kalitta Motorsports team up for
upcoming Sonoma and Chicago NHRA events; David
Grubnic to drive Red Line Oil Top Fuel dragster
In
celebration of their 25th anniversary,
California-based Red Line Oil, the industry
leader in high performance synthetic lubricants,
and Kalitta Motorsports are excited to announce
a two-event primary sponsorship agreement for
the upcoming Fram Autolite NHRA Nationals at
Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif., July 30 -
Aug.1, and the CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA
Nationals at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Ill.,
near Chicago, Sept. 30 - Oct. 3. The specially
painted, 7,000 + horsepower Red Line Oil Top
Fuel dragster will be piloted by Team Kalitta
driver David "Aussie Dave" Grubnic. It
will accompany Kalitta Motorsports' two other
Top Fuel entries driven by cousins Doug and
Scott Kalitta at both events.
"We need to thank everyone at Kalitta
Motorsports and especially Connie
Kalitta for providing this sponsorship
opportunity," said Red Line Oil
president Tim Kerrigan. "To increase our
program in our 25th anniversary
year is special, but to debut the car at our
home race is even better. Our
employees, customers, and dealers feel that
David Grubnic, Doug Kalitta, and
Scott Kalitta are great drivers to represent our
products. It should be a
great weekend and the upcoming race in Chicago
should provide for a strong
outing, too."
"This is such a great partnership,"
Grubnic said. "Red Line Oil has been
involved with Kalitta Motorsports for several
years now, and it's really
fantastic that we are able to run these two
races under their banner. Their
support for our team and our sport is
tremendous. This is just another step
in the right direction for both of us."
Grubnic, a journeyman Top Fuel driver, is in his
first season behind the
wheel of the third Kalitta team car. The native
of Brisbane, Australia, has
been driving nitro rails in the United States
since 1995. He has been No.1
qualifier four times this season at consecutive
events in Phoenix and
Gainesville and again at consecutive events in
Atlanta and Chicago. He has
made two final round appearances thus far in
2004 at St. Louis and Seattle.
He is currently fifth in NHRA Top Fuel
championship points.
