Supermoto Champ Mark Willis signs with Team CHM
Exhaust/Pro Honda Oils team
Current
Australian Supermoto Champion, Mark Willis, has signed
with one of the leading USA Supermoto Teams, Team CHM
Exhaust/Pro Honda Oils. Willis will ride alongside
French Supermoto legend, Alexandre’ Thiebault, in a
team that is expect to finish in the top three in the
2004 AMA Supermoto Championship.
Willis secured the
prized ride when Team CHM Exhaust/Pro Honda Oils rider
Brett Landes suffered leg injuries during a practice
sessions.
Willis will join the
team for the first two rounds of the Championship, a
double header at Copper Mountain, Colorado on the 28
and 29 of August. Impressive results here could see
Willis remain with the team for the rest of the 2004
season.
“I’ve had a good
relationship with Honda and recently with CHM
Exhaust,” said Willis, “It’s a great opportunity
to be riding against some of the world's best riders
like Eddy Seel, Pastrana, Metzger, Bostrom, McGrath,
there just so many.”
The profile of
Australian Supermoto riders in the USA has no doubt
been elevated by the success of Mark Avard, whom
finished second in the qualifying rounds of the 2003
championship. Avard suffered a shoulder injury during
testing and is an unlikely starter for the beginning
of the season.
