The AHDRA headquarters has announced an agreement with
producers of The Discovery Channel's Biker Build-Off
series to film an episode at the upcoming JIMS Las Vegas
Nationals Presented by Barnett Clutches on November
11-12 in Las Vegas.
Gard Hollinger (of L.A. County Choprods, one of the
best in the business) is going head-to-head against
Chopsmith's Jason Hart out of Gasoline Alley in Indianapolis.
Producers
of the Biker Build-Off series say that these two builders
capture the true essence of the show because they epitomize
hard-working, creative, fabricating masters of the motorcycle.
"They
will be building two street-legal dragsters for this
episode, making this show truly 'one of a kind,'"
said producer Aron Plucinski. "The bonus is that
their charisma is overwhelming and they are incredibly
fun to watch."
Once
the bikes are built, they will meet at "Dead Horse
Point," two thousand feet above the Colorado River
in Utah. This shot (which will be captured by helicopter
cameras) will be huge, using the butte country of Utah
as a powerful backdrop, both for the meeting itself
and as the starting location of the ride to the JIMS
Las Vegas Nationals. It's a 500-mile jaunt to the event,
and then-the race is on!
On
Saturday, November 11, the builders will compete on
the track (E.T. bracket style) in a best-of-three laps.
Next, the bikes will be moved and set up at a voting
booth located in Manufacturer's Row, where AHDRA racers
and fans will judge the bikes based on overall design,
execution of design, and performance of design.
"We
are really looking forward to generating reaction and
participation from the racers and crews of AHDRA, who
have so much expertise in drag bike performance,"
noted Plucinski.
Once
the voting is complete, executive producer Hugh (a.k.a.
"The Chopper King") will announce the winner
and present the trophy on stage during the event.

AHDRA President Craig Tharpe says that he and his staff
are thrilled to be a part of this popular series. "You
can't buy this kind of exposure," he added. "We
encourage our racers, crews, and fans to participate
in the voting and make the builders feel welcome. We
are very fortunate they have chosen our venue and look
forward to the interest it will generate for our sanction."
The
JIMS Las Vegas Nationals Presented by Barnett Clutches
will be held at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway,
November 11-12.
On
Thursday, November 9, Las Vegas Harley-Davidson will
host a gigantic Nitro Party to lead off the exciting
weekend. Bike builders Hollinger and Hart are expected
to appear at the party, along with master builder Kendall
Johnson. AHDRA racers and manufacturers will also participate
at the pre-event celebration.
