Reed holds off
Windham for third win; Tedesco extends 125 class win streak to
four
Yamaha’s Chad Reed, of Dade City,
Fla., raced to his third THQ AMA Supercross Series
victory at Qualcomm Stadium in front of 61,062 fans.
For the fourth-consecutive weekend, Kawasaki’s Ivan
Tedesco, of Murrieta, Calif., won the THQ AMA
Supercross Series 125 Western Regional main event.
Series points leader Reed won the $1,500 Butterfinger
Holeshot Award with Honda rider Kevin Windham close
behind as they exited turn one. Throughout the race
the two passed one another several times, but on lap
14 Reed made the final move and held on for the win.
“I saw the halfway mark of the race and had to start
making my move,” said Reed. “I knew I had to make my
move, but needed to be patient. I followed Kevin
around and learned a lot from his lines.”
Honda’s Greg Schnell, of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.,
earned the $1,000 Butterfinger Holeshot Award in the
125cc main as Kawasaki’s Stephane Roncada, Lake
Elsinore, Calif., followed in second early on. By the
completion of lap one, Roncada moved into the field.
His teammate, Tedesco, who has won the first three
races of the series, started mid-pack and moved into
second place on lap six. Tedesco passed Roncada for
the lead on lap eight and held on for the win. On the
same lap, Honda’s Nathan Ramsey passed Roncada for
second and Travis Preston moved into third.
