Heartland Park
Topeka will return to the CORR Lucas Oil Series Race
Schedule in 2004
Indianapolis, Ind. (November 7, 2003)—The 2004 CORR
Lucas Oil Series Race Schedule was released, with
Heartland Park Topeka in Topeka, Kansas as the latest
addition to the series schedule. The CORR Lucas Oil
Pro and Sportsman Series will visit Heartland
Park
on July 10-11,
2004.
“The CORR event coming to Heartland Park Topeka in
July of 2004 will be one of the best events of the
year,” said Heartland Park Topeka owner Raymond
Irwin. “The Saturday night and Sunday day show on
July 10th and 11th will be the
first event of the second half of the CORR season and
will be the only night race they have all year long.”
Championship Off Road Racing competed at Heartland
Park Topeka in 2000 and 2001. Irwin purchased the
multi-purpose racing facility in 2003, and invited the
CORR Lucas Oil Series to be part of its race schedule
in 2004. The CORR Lucas Oil Series will compete on
the existing half-mile dirt oval. Irwin also owns
Blackhawk Farms Raceway in Rockton,
Illinois.
Heartland Park
hosts many racing events throughout the year,
including the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series.
“Competitors from all over the United States will
converge on Topeka for this show. When Marty Reid
announced the addition of the Heartland Park Topeka
event at the CORR annual awards banquet, the
announcement was met with great applause,” Irwin
said.
“Heartland
Park welcomes
the return of the CORR Lucas Oil Series as part of our
expanding schedule as an entertainment destination for
the Midwest,”
noted Irwin.
14 Rounds of racing in Wisconsin, Michigan, Kansas and
New York will be part of the 2004 Pro Series. The
Sportsman Series will have 12 Rounds of competition.
For the second year, the CORR Lucas Oil Series will
open Memorial Day weekend at the Trollhaugen Ski Area
in Dresser, Wisconsin on May 29-30. At its inaugural
event in 2003, the drivers likened the track to
Bristol Motor Speedway. The short track offered
racing action that the Championship Off Road Racing
drivers had not experienced in quite some time.
The Langlade County Fairgrounds in Antigo,
Wisconsin
and the Crandon International Off Road Raceway in
Crandon,
Wisconsin will
continue their long-established relationship with
off-road racing on June 12-13 (Antigo) and June 26-27
(Crandon).
After the drivers in the Pro and Sportsman Series
visit Topeka
on July 10-11, the Bark River Off Road Raceway in Bark
River,
Michigan will host
their traditional two rounds of racing on August
14-15. For more than 25 years, the Upper Peninsula of
Michigan has established itself as an integral part of
off-road racing.
The Sportsman Series will conclude Labor Day weekend
at the Crandon International Off Road Raceway on
September 4 and 5. Always one of the most well known
off-road racing events, more than 40,000 spectators
make the trip to Crandon Labor Day weekend.
The CORR Lucas Oil Pro Series will wrap up at the
Unadilla
Valley Sports
Center
in New Berlin,
New York on September 18-19. Unadilla built its
reputation as one of the hosts of the AMA U.S.
Motocross Championships. 2004 will be the third year
Unadilla will host the CORR Lucas Oil Series.
