Reviews: Strong Arm's Raptor +2 A-Arms

HSD Racing is the distributor of Strong Arm a-arms and ATV Performance products.

Strong Arm kits arrive assembled and are available powder coated in most colors. The extended a-arm kits come with a-arms, ball joints, tie rods, bushings and sleeves. They feature adjustable camber on the upper a-arm. Installation instructions are included and this Yamaha Raptor kit is a true bolt-on.
Spindle reaming (taper boring) was
NOT required.

Installation Instructions

1)Raise the front end up off the ground. To allow the suspension to fully extend. Once the front end is safely off the ground remove the  wheels and shocks.

2)Loosen the tie rod and remove. NOTE: It is not necessary to remove the tie rod ends off the steering frog of the spindle.

3)Now remove the nuts holding the ball joints, and break the ball joints loose, and remove the a-arms from the frame.

4)Install the steel sleeves into the bushings using anti-seize compound. Apply the compound to the insides of the bushing and the outside of the sleeves.

5)Decals face forward, install the A-arm into the frame mounts, install the bolts and nuts tighten nuts until the frame mounts make contact with the steel sleeves, then torque the nuts.

6)Set the ball joint angle by keeping the 'cap' of the joint parallel with the spindle face. Use an open end wrench on the ball joint right up against the rubber boot to stop the ball joint from turning with the nylock nut. With the wrench on the ball joint then torque the nylock nut.
The upper ball joints have a few more threads than the lower ball joints, and allow you to adjust the camber to suit your personal style. We recommend no more than 4 degrees of negative camber.

7)Reinstall the shock and thread on the new tie rod. Keep the tie rod end and tie rod threads clean and they will be easier to adjust. Repeat the process on the other side.

Adjust wheel toe to suit your riding style.
